Dr Xand Van Tulleken is best known for being a BAFTA winning television presenter frequently alongside his twin brother Dr Chris. With programmes including the likes of Operation Ouch!

Summary:

Dr Xand and his twin brother Dr Chris are famous for taking a very hands-on approach to explaining how the body works. Their Horizon special “Is Binge Drinking Really That Bad?” where they tested the effects of drinking moderate amounts of alcohol daily (Tested by Chris) and bingeing weekly (Tested by Xand).

Biography:

Dr Xand van Tulleken has a diploma in Tropical Medicine, a Diploma in International Humanitarian Assistance and a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. Tulleken is a registered Doctor with the General Medical Council of the UK.

Xand is a contributing editor to the first edition of the Oxford Handbook of Humanitarian Medicine and has worked for Doctors of the World, Merlin and the World Health Organisation in humanitarian crises around the world.

Dr Tulleken has presented numerous shows for the BBC and Channel 4 including: Operation Ouch, Blow Your Mind, Horizon, Secret Life of Twins and Medicine Men Gone Wild. He has also contributed medical analysis on CNN, BBC1 and 2, Al Jazeera English and Al Jazeera America, Channel 4, MSNBC and Fox 5 New York just to name a few.

Dr Xand has gone on to explore the impact of diet and health in programmes and the best-selling book “How to lose weight well”. He has also investigated the effects of air pollution for Horizon: Fighting Air, which saw him, work with the community in Kings Heath, Birmingham to create a clean air street.

In 2015 he moved in with the White family for a weekend for the production of Doctor In Your House, which premiered, on Channel 4. He now looks into the range of weight-loss diets on Channel 4 in the programme “How to Lose Weight Well” which is possibly even less dignified than anything he did on Operation Ouch which involved one green coffee enema and one bout of incontinence.

Dr Xand has worked alongside his brother, Chris on a variety of projects including Operation Ouch, a 2 x BAFTA winning children’s health show on Children’s BBC.
