Sir Martin Sorrell founded WPP, the world’s largest advertising and marketing services group in 1985 and has been chief executive throughout. WPP companies, which include some of the most eminent agencies in the business, provide clients with advertising, media investment management, consumer insight, public relations and public affairs, branding and identity, healthcare communications, direct, interactive and internet marketing, and specialist communications services.

Biography:

Sir. Martin S. Sorrell serves as a Special Adviser to the Board of Aimia Coalition Loyalty UK Limited (alternate name Loyalty Management UK Limited). Sir. Sorrell has been Group Chief Executive Officer of WPP Plc since joining in 1986. He serves as Chief Executive Officer of WPP Group USA, Inc. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer of WPP Group US Investments, Inc. He serves as Equity Analyst of Morgan Stanley, Research Division.

From 1977 to 1984, Sir. Sorrell served as Group Finance Director of Saatchi & Saatchi. He served as a Business and Financial Adviser to British food retail entrepreneur James Gulliver at Argyll, and managed the commercial, financial affairs of sports personalities and celebrities with the Mark McCormack Organization in London. He began his career as a Marketing Associate at Glendinning Associates of Westport, Connecticut. He serves as the Chairman of the International Advisory Board of British-American Business Council. He serves as Vice Chairman of IBLAC 2011. He serves as Deputy Chairman of London Business School. Martin has been Director of Alcoa Inc., since January 18, 2012. He serves as a Director of WPP Group USA, Inc. He has been an Executive Director of WPP plc, since 1986. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board at Globant S.A. He serves as a Member of Board of Advisors at Globant, Inc. He serves as Non-Executive Director of Sorrell Capital. Since 2006, he has been Non-Executive Director of Alpha Topco and Formula 1 company.

Since 1998, he has been a Director of Dean's Advisers of Harvard Business School and the Indian School of Business. He serves as a Governor of London Business School, a Member of the Advisory Board of IESE in Spain and also on the Dean's Advisory Council for Boston University School of Management. He served as Member of Advisory Board at Alchemy Partners LLP. He served as Non Industry Director of Nasdaq OMX Group Inc., since January 2001. He served as a Trustee of the Conference Board, the New York based business organization. He served as a Non Executive Director of Asatsu-DK Inc. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Colefax Group plc., until September 30, 2003. He served as a Member of International Advisory Council at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. and BofA Merrill Lynch. In 1999, he was appointed by the Secretary of State for Education and Employment to the Council for Excellence in Management and Leadership. In 2003, he was asked to serve on the Modern Apprenticeship Task Force, launched by the Department for Education and Skills. In 1997, Martin was appointed as an Ambassador for British Business by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. In 2008, he was appointed by The English Football Association to the Board of the bid to stage the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

In 2010 he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Bloomberg Family Foundation. He is on the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum International Business Council and a member of the Business Council in the United States. He is a Patron of the British Museum, a member of the corporate Advisory Group of the Tate Gallery, and on the International Advisory Board of The Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. In 2007, he was awarded the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award. He serves as a Trustee of the Cambridge Foundation, a patron of Cambridge Alumni in Management, a patron of Christ's College Cambridge, a Trustee of the Royal College of Art Foundation. He is also a patron of the Queen Charlotte's Appeal at Hammersmith Hospital, and serves on the board of the National Deaf Children's Society and on the National Appeal Board of the NSPCC.

Martin is an Economics graduate of Cambridge University with an MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. In 2001, he received an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from London Guildhall University.
